Lake Nakuru National Park - Tuesday 19th Jan

'
Nakuru is home of Lake Nakuru , one of the Rift Valley soda lakes, which forms part of the Lake Nakuru National Park. The park has a large number of lamingoes that feed on the algae however recent flooding has meant that the birds have migrated to another lake.
It is one of Kenya's premium parks with over 400 bird species and is also the first national Rhino sanctuary and hosts one of the worlds highest concentrations of the black rhino.

We headed off for camp for the 40 drive into town and then the park which is about 3 kms from the city centre( seems strange having a aminals so close to a town). Upon entering the park we headed for Rhino Point and we weren't disappointed with quite a few having a morning snooze

On the way to Baboon Point which looks out over the lake we came across lots of Rothchild Giraffes
feeding on the thorny acacia trees

Arrived at Baboon Point and Amanda set up lunch just as it started to pour with rain
view of Lake Nakuru from Baboon Point
Spent a few more hours exploring the park then headed off back to town to the local supermarket to have a drink and get some wifi access. Spent the rest of the afternoon ask at camp lazing around in amoungst the light rain shows.
