Just outside the office they have a large display of animal skulls with a few elephant ones which were huge
Other types of animals skulls in the park- buffalo ,Kudu,Impala, antelope
Just down the road we came across a large group of dung bettles having a fat time in the elephant pooHowever it's to fibrous to roll into a ball unlike one further on rolling a ball around. The walk backwards to roll the ball
We saw the usual animals - zebra ,elephants,Impala, warthog, giraffe however came across Kudu which we hadn't seen previously.
This was the the meat we had on the Stream Train dinner in Livingstone that they said was lamb. We had been buying kudu or springbok biltong as its a really nice meat at the last couple of servo or shop stops. There hadn't been must biltong at the start of the trip however we are looking forawrd to the next 6 weeks as game meat is very popular in Namibia and South Africa.
Had a stop and stretch of our legs at a huge baobab tree whose trunk was enormous
Then for the return journey back out of the park and a big group of a dozen ostriches that crossed just in front of us
The was a couple of local wood cravers outside the park so stopped and brought a boat for the downstairs table. Timo did some haggling for us so I gave him a bigger tip at the end.
He had been talking to Jo about his family and that he was in the process of building a new wing on his recently completed house so did a slight detour on the way to have a look and meet his family
Arrived home for a quick rest and then lunch followed by a quick trip into the town shop to get some ice for the game cruise later today with the local butcher awaiting customers
We packed the esky with essentials and departed the campsite at 5.30 for the game cruise and the first port of call was nearby up the river at Popa Falls which is really Rapids over some rocks we docked on the sand bank and then walked to the falls
We came across some playful hippos a bit later down the river
here's the view from the river to bar of our camp sites here we were having a beer yesterday looking out to Angola
Arrived back home after sunset to have a light supper of pumpkin soup and crotons. The camp site has a couple of funny toilets in the bar area.
