We drove past dune 7 which is the biggest dune in Namibia then hit the dirt road after about 30kms to start the journey to r lunch time stop at Solitaire as we wound around the mountain passes
Had to slow down to stop and let the animals cross the zebra crossing.haha yes they are zebra
We hit a familiar sight for Queenslanders travellering to and from Rocky
Hit the metropolous town of Solitaire at lunch time which comprises a servo, shop and bakery to have a spare rib pie . Not much rain over the years and nothing over the last few months Into the Sesriem campsite to register and park the cars about 2pm and head straight to the pool area to avoid the scorching heat followed by a sleep on the stretcher beds behind the car sheltering for the heat and sand from the wind until I was awoken by a commotion on the road near us with a tourist van stuck in the sand and unable to escape until Jan the Overlander came to the rescue and pulled then out
Appropriate for this vast country with its epic landcaspes is that the number one tourist attraction , Sossusvlei still manages to feel isolated. The dune are part of the 32000sq km sand sea with the dunes reaching as high as 325 metres , are part of the oldest and driest ecosystems on earth. We headed out to the drive to Dune 45 , is so called because it lies 45 km past Sesriem on the road to Sossusvlei. It is 80 meters high and it is composed of 5-million-year-old sands.
